Week 4
Posted by zewtastic on Tuesday, May 04, 2010 (18:01:17) (79 reads)
First Eagle: Doug Grandy chipped in on the 1st hole of the Arcade Creek back nine. The Blue course.
Lot's of score entry mistakes. Recently there seem to be many players making score entry errors such as accidentally checking the sub box, or forgetting the player had a sub and the score gets associated with the absent player.
Most of you saw last night I added some detail to the score entry display, where above the players picture it shows you their scoring status. What the score entered is, or if they had a sub, or were a noshow.
Please take the moment to double-check after you submit a score to see if it is correct.

Small Scoring Bug Fixed
Posted by zewtastic on Monday, May 03, 2010 (00:31:25) (279 reads)
Checking scores on the site over the weekend I discovered a small error in 3 or 4 matches. It had to do with a sub's handicap being carried over from the previous season rather then a new handicap being calculated for this 2010 season.
I have fixed the bug and re-processed the matches for scores and handicaps.
Handicaps should not have changed for regular members, only for a couple subs.
But some points will have changed. If you had a sub for week 2 or 3, you may see a change in points from their match.
The best place to see the match detail is the Detailed Match Report
If you see anything that does not look correct please let me know.

Latest Update
Posted by zewtastic on Saturday, April 24, 2010 (19:40:50) (707 reads)
Red Division Scores Fixed
The test scores from week 1 have been removed from the Red Division and the overall scores and handicaps processed again to correct any errors.
Sub Procedure
If you have a sub play for you make sure they know to:
-Put their name on the scorecard as a sub for you.
-Write legibly
-They MUST check-in with Tom(directors) after the round, before leaving.
Pace of Play
It's early in the season yet, and we lose the daylight fast. Make sure to keep your pace of play FAST, and keep up with the groups in front of you. Lets make sure everyone can finish with daylight.
If you are consistently the slowest player we have no problem changing your tee times to the last spot, and will if it is necessary to allow others a fair opportunity to finish in daylight.
How to get 4 Point on Establishing Week?
A few people have asked me how do you get 4 points from the first week when you are establishing a handicap.
The answer is either your opponent is a no-show, or shoots over the handicap cap of 18, and you keep your score under the handicap cap.

Birdy Report!

Lots of Birdies!
Week three brought a number of birdies. If you want to view them the Division Scoring Detail report is probably the best as they jump out as the cells in that purplish color.
Red Division: Janet Georgie, Mark Hiner.
White Division: Alan McMillian, Mark Walthers.
Blue Division: Larry Christensen, Liz Ford, Doug Grandy (had 2), Tom Nichols.

Week 3 Recap
Posted by zewtastic on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 (10:37:34) (170 reads)
Problems, problems, problems!
Something is wrong with the EVDO router we used successfully all last year, and the Wi-Fi at Haggin Oaks is still very unreliable. Thus the difficulty gaining internet access caused annoying and tiresome delays once again at scoring time. The hope is to resolve these technical issues by next week once and for all. If if does not, I am quitting.
Fill Out The Scorecard Sub Info Completely Please!
I worked very hard to make a scorecard that had everything we needed on it, and was still legible and easy to understand. Yet people still do not seem to be able to manipulate a pencil in a competent manner. When a sub is playing PLEASE MAKE SURE TO PUT ALL THEIR INFO IN THE RIGHT SPOTS on the scorecard. I have no explanation for what you see below. The name is unreadable, information is incomplete, and not in the right boxes. If I can't read em, I usually make it a no-show score. Believe me folks, these kind of scorecards make my head explode.
No Zero Putts Please!
When you shoot a double par, please put down at least 2 putts, not zero putts. Obviously you probably did not have any putts, but thats only because we ask you to stop swinging when your score reaches double par for pace-of-play's sake.
On Par 3's, Wave Up The Next Group!
Now this rule we have repeatedly trumpeted, but yet players still refuse to follow it. On a Par 3, when your group is all on the green, wave up the group behind you waiting on the tee. No exceptions. The next time we see or hear about players not waving the next foursome up, they will be banned for life from Hackpack. Nuff said.

No Stolen Clubs after all
Posted by zewtastic on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 (22:15:57) (190 reads)
I do not have the full details yet, but apparently Bob's clubs were accidentally taken by another patron. They were returned to the course and Bob has his clubs back.
I went over to talk with Steven Stone and he said the clubhouse had brought in some clubs someone had left (the guy that took Bobs gear). That guy brought back Bobs clubs and Bob picked them up at lunch. I am sure he is very happy.

Week 2 Review
Posted by zewtastic on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 (21:09:17) (216 reads)
Excruciating Slow Play Problems
Last night the Arcade Creek suffered from agonizing slow play, with everyone having an almost 3 hour round and all finishing in the dark. This is absolutely unacceptable, and may lead to serious problems if it continues. HO position is that nothing has changed from last year, and they are doing all they can, including blocking out a tee time in front of our league. Obviously something is different though, as our first group teed off 5-10 minutes behind schedule and was waiting on every tee after that.
This slow round was the result of groups in front of us playing very slowly, and HO not monitoring their pace of play.
This caused both Tom and I to be delayed in setting up the computers for data entry which backed up everything. Also a number of groups in the Blue division just left the clubhouse without entering their scores thus leaving that work to me.
Subs needing Registration
We are still getting new subs out that are not registered. Please if you have a new sub coming out to play have them register at Hackpack.com.
New Pictures Posted
I was able to get a few pictures last night and have updated the site with those. There are still a number of missing headshots, but hopefully in the next few weeks those will be filled in.
